In 2018, the Changshu Government completed the construction of the “Yucheng QuickPass” convenient payment system in the bus field. On November 1st, Golong on-board bus validators completely covered Changshu city buses, intercity buses, and rural buses, which meant that Changshu started using mobile payment.
With the advent of mobility payment, many Changshu citizens choose to use mobile payment which has been applied to various scenarios of the payment system. In 2018, Changshu’s 20 livelihood projects clearly stated that building the “Yucheng QuickPass" convenient payment system should be started. Full coverage of the “cashless and convenient payment” should be achieved in the bus field.
Currently, there are nearly 1,200 city buses, intercity buses, and rural buses in Changshu. Statistics show that there are nearly 50% of transactions that do not use cards except bus cards in the previous daily transaction. Mobile payment by mobile phones can provide convenience to passengers, and the citizens can get more benefits.
Changshu Changyun Information Construction Co., Ltd. first tested in 21 buses of route 1. With the support of the Changshu Branch of the Bank of China, all buses were equipped with new bus validators that could support mobile payments. The old bus validator will be retained, and the function will remain unchanged so that the original bus cards still can be used.
The new device has both a scanning area and a card-tapping area. From November 1st, the scanning area will support the QR code of BOC, and the QR code of QuickPass. Meituan Virtual Electronic Bus Card will be launched on November 15th, like bus cards. Both 20% discount and transit discounts are available. Also, Alipay and WeChat mobile payments will be added in the future. The card tapping area can support Jiangsu Transportation Card, Suzhou Citizen Card Electronic Wallet, and UnionPay QuickPass. At present, the urban-rural bus fares in Changshu vary from 2 yuan to more than 2 yuan. The new bus validator can support multi-level fares. Citizens can scan the QR code or tap the card to take the bus after choosing the accurate fare.
