Today, UnionPay International announced the launch of the UTSP, simultaneously opening the product interface through the developer platform, and helping different traffic scenarios to open the UnionPay QR code. Public transportation such as Hong Kong Subway and Taiwan Kaohsiung Metro is about to realize this service.
UnionPay QR code solutions
In order to meet the payment needs of cross-border tourists and overseas local cardholders, UnionPay International has accelerated the construction of overseas public transport scenarios. In addition to extensively promoting UnionPay, it also provides domestic and foreign passengers with a convenient mobile payment experience. At present, the Moscow Airport Express and Subway, and Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Airport Express have supported “QuickPass”. Furthermore, Seoul taxis, Hong Kong designated taxis, etc. have supported QR code payment of “QuickPass”.

UnionPay International launched the QR code payment solution for the first time through the transportation service platform based on different kinds of payment methods. This move further enriches the options for overseas transportation merchants to accept UnionPay mobile payment, which will help to increase the scenarios in this field more widely.
When qualified overseas transportation merchants connect to the platform, they can verify the UnionPay transportation QR code which can support UnionPay standard apps such as “QuickPass”, etc. UnionPay International also provides support such as gate, terminal transformation, app development, etc. for unqualified merchants. Passengers can use QR codes without the internet. At the same time, the code verification time is short, so they don’t need to wait. The developer platform has opened 30 APIs.
Through the developer platform (developer.unionpayintl.com), UnionPay International has opened the application programming interface (API) and self-service test channel of the transportation service platform to provide technical support for partner institutions to open QR code payment services in the whole process.

In recent years, UnionPay International has accelerated the construction and iteration of various technical support platforms and continuously upgraded its digital payment capabilities. At present, more than 20 technology platforms and various solutions, including transportation and mobility service platforms, have been built to meet the needs of cooperating institutions for efficient and low-cost access to UnionPay products and payment scenarios. Partners can easily join the UnionPay cross-border payment ecosystem by calling the corresponding platform of API through the unified “window”—the UnionPay international developer platform.
In the past year, various APIs of the developer platform have been used tens of thousands of times, serving nearly 100 overseas institutions and individual developers. Recently, 13 new payment and data service APIs have been added to the developer platform. A total of 30 product APIs have been developed. APIs such as the issuance service platform of QuickPass cards and the virtual card management platform have been widely welcomed by cooperating institutions.
