On December 1, 2017, Hangzhou, known as the “Mobile Payments City”, was the first city in China to achieve full coverage of mobile payment on buses.
Driven by the Internet, domestic bus services continue to innovate. At present, all buses in the main urban area are equipped with Golong’s on-board all-in-one payment machines in Hangzhou. More than 8,000 buses have achieved full coverage of “bus card + Alipay + UnionPay QuickPass and mobile payment”.
There are 55 cities in China that have already provided customized bus services based on the Internet. Hangzhou’s QR code payment for bus service began in 2016. This new service not only can provide citizens and tourists with great convenience but also can greatly improve the operational efficiency of bus companies. Wu Cunqian, director of the Institute of Strategic Development of Hangzhou Bus Group, said. “Previously, Hangzhou Bus received about 1.7 million yuan of change per day, accounting for about 48% of the amount of the bus fare. With the use of mobile payment methods such as Alipay, the use of change has dropped by more than 20%.”
Bus mobile payment has become an inevitable trend in the future.
